Combination of Methods (SIRAS, MIRAS)

It has turned out that the combination of isomorphous replacement and anomalous dispersion, single/multiple isomorphous replacement with anomalous scattering (SIRAS, MIRAS), is powerfully combining the strenghs of both methods. If the ressources and the luck is available this would be the method of choice for protein crystallographers.

OTHER METHODS

Direct methods (work only for small molecules)
Molecular replacement (MR)
Isomorphous replacement (SIR, MIR)
Anomalous dispersion (SAD, MAD)
