Once we have crystals, the problem is not yet solved. We need to fish the crystals and freeze them to protect them from ratiadion damage (and perhaps conserve them). As ice crystals produce a very strong signal we have to avoid the crystallisation of water during that process by using cryoprotectants. An additional complication may arise from the requirement of adding a heavy atom for phasing or ligands through soaking of the crystal.
The orientation of the crystal in the x-ray beam may be important.
